Barnsby riders do Britain proud in Hong Kong!
Two of Barnsby's sponsored riders were selected to represent Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics and both put in excellent performances to do Great Britain proud.
Three day eventing legend, Mary King, partnered Call Again Cavalier in the Three Day Eventing competition. A superb dressage test for a score of 38.10 left Mary in 9th individually and best of the British. The testing cross country course certainly made an impact upon the leader board and with no horse and rider combination getting even close to the time, Mary's 18 time faults moved her up into 5th and within a hairs breadth of an individual medal. Her fantastic round also helped Great Britain to move into the bronze medal position going into the final phase. Unfortunately, an uncharacteristic 2 poles down in the team show jumping and another single pole down in the individual show jumping round saw Mary's medal chances disappear, but she can stand proud in the knowledge that she helped Great Britain to their bronze medal win. We'll all be looking forward to the gold in London 2012!
Ben Maher's show jumping dreams really came true when he was picked to go to this year's Beijing Olympics and he showed his own and Rolette's enormous talent with flawless performances that saw them qualify for the individual final to decide the individual Olympic medals. A superb clear in the first round of the finals had us all hoping that it would be Ben's year, but it was not to be. At just 10 years old, Hong Kong was a big ask of Rolette and she obviously tired in the second round to have five fences down, leaving her out of medal contention. What is certain though that the best is still yet to come from this enormously talented partnership.
